Led by artistic director Karola Lüttringhaus, alban elvěd dance company is an interdisciplinary contemporary dance company originally from Berlin, Germany.

Ms. Lüttringhaus creates athletic contemporary dance works, which seek to shape meaning from the rich clutter of emotional experience. Her work is fiercely physical, tracing the changeable electricity of thought and sensation that underlies human interaction and interpersonal relationships.

The interdisciplinary nature of the works of alban elvěd dance company, which frequently incorporate live music, visual art, film or video, aerial work, elements of dance theatre, and technologies, expands the boundaries of dance performance, creating startling and evocative psychological landscapes. The integration of various art forms is accessible to a broad audience, and encourages dialogue and collaboration within a diverse community of artists and non artists of all kinds. Since 1999 the company has been based in the USA, and tours nationally and internationally.

About the name alban elved : The ancient Celts observed a holiday they called Alban Elved, which literally translates to “The Light of the Water”. The first day of Autumn, marking the beginning of the Autumnal Equinox- the day when the sun passes below the equator for the first time since the Spring Equinox.
